Due to the lockdown restrictions, the annual Northants Sings Out concert at Derngate, Northampton was not able to go ahead as originally planned. This meant that we had to take action and find an alternative which led us to create a virtual concert.

To achieve this we built a green screen studio and began filming each band member one by one through the duration of all the songs. Mid shots were filmed on a RED Epic Dragon and wide shots were filmed on a Canon 1DX mark iii.

One day was used to film all the band members and a second day was used to film all the choir soloists.

Once all the filming was completed, the other 120 choir members sent in their individual videos recorded on smartphones and they were all pieced together to create a 12x10 grid in the background of the virtual concert.

All this footage was then sent on to a 3D animator who pieced the concert together. It ended up looking like this...

The project took around a month and a half to complete.
